Cultural Immersion and Academic Excellence: IIT Palakkad welcomes International Students

IIT Palakkad hosted the ‘International Students Meet 2025’ to warmly welcome international students to the campus. The event, organized by the Office of International Relations, aimed to facilitate a smooth transition for the students and introduce them to the Indian culture. The meeting was graced by the presence of Director Prof. A Seshadri Sekhar, Deans and staff from various departments. Dr. Biswajit Sarmak, faculty of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences offered an engaging cultural sensitization session. The session covered essential topics such as food habits, regional culture, languages and academics, providing valuable insights to the students.

Director Prof. A Seshadri Sekhar interacted with the international students, listening to their concerns and offering guidance. He encouraged them to explore Kerala and India, immersing themselves in the country's rich cultural heritage while fulfilling their academic responsibilities. The IAR Students team played a vital role in introducing the international students to the various clubs and activities available at the institute. Their efforts have been instrumental in supporting the IAR office in conducting activities efficiently. 

IIT Palakkad is hosting international students from countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and several others on campus for various programs, including semester exchange, joint research supervision, joint doctoral and summer programs. The institute is actively engaging with universities worldwide to attract foreign students and faculty, increasing the international footprint on campus.

The International Students Meet 2025 marked a significant step towards fostering a sense of community and belonging among international students at IIT Palakkad.
