Research towards deployment ready Miniaturized Ultrasonic Transducers – Exploration of Alternative paths

It is commonly acknowledged fact that miniaturization of any sensor or transducer overcomes several
disadvantages of bulky devices. The challenge lies in achieving the same. In this talk, Prof. Siva Rama Krishna (Dept.of Electrical Engineering,Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad)will discuss in detail two kinds of miniaturized/Micromachined ultrasonic transducers viz., Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers (CMUTs) and Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers (PMUTs), their design, fabrication and characterization aspects. The primary focus would be on the efforts he had carried out to develop devices using alternative materials having unique properties.
